Woman Removes Thong And Uses It As Face Mask After Being Confronted By Supermarket Staff

As she placed the black thong over her face, the other shoppers looked at her with disbelief.

  • The unidentified woman was in line at a Pick n Pay supermarket in South Africa but was stopped by the security guard for entering. She was asked to put on a face mask, as per store policies.
  • She told the guard that she didn’t have one, but the guard didn’t budge and threatened to remove her from the store if she didn’t comply.
  • Instead of backing off, she reached under her dress and took off her thong to use as a mask.

When you’re denied entry at the supermarket because you don’t have a face mask on, you have two choices – you get a mask and return to the store or do a Karen and insist on your right not to wear a mask. But this South African woman had other ideas – she used her panties to cover her face.

The unidentified woman was in line at a Pick n Pay supermarket in South Africa but was stopped by the security guard and was asked to put on a face mask, as per store policies.

She told the guard that she didn’t have one, but the guard didn’t budge and threatened to remove her from the store if she didn’t comply. Instead of backing off, she reached under her dress and took off her thong to use as a mask.

As she placed the black thong over her face, the other shoppers looked at her with disbelief. One of them shouted, “What’s going on?!” The woman sticks a thumbs up in the security guard’s direction and asks, “Happy?”

One of the shoppers joined in on the debacle as the guard started to radio someone.

“Well personally I find it acceptable, it is a mask,” the shopper said.

“And quite frankly I think the bacteria on your knickers is less than on the mask.”

The shopper even clapped and said to the woman: “‘Well done to you. Brilliant.”

Not everyone agreed with the shopper who sided with the woman, though. The incident was captured on video and became viral as expected.

One of the commenters said: “This makes me sick. She is aware of the law worldwide. We have a serious virus and (she thinks) a G-string will save her. Come on grow up. What must your family think?”

In South Africa, not wearing a face mask in public is considered criminal offense. President Cyril Ramaphosa said that those who do not follow could be arrested and prosecuted and on conviction, they “will be liable to a fine or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding six months or to both a fine and imprisonment.”

Another woman in Brazil did the same:
