Meet Quilty – Cat Escape Artist Helping Other Cats Jailbreak

  • A cat is notorious for helping other cats in escaping from the animal shelter.
  • It is placed in solitary confinement to serve its punishment but it still managed to free itself
  • Angry fans instigated a protest on social media to free the cat
  • Several potential fur parents are falling in line to adopt the cat after its story went viral on the internet

Who doesn’t like cats? Cats are very unique domestic pets with distinct personalities. One common adage is that dogs are man’s best friend but cats may be the opposite. Dogs are very clingy, sweet, and affectionate but cats do not care what you do as long as it gets its treats.

Cats are known to be natural hunters.  They like to stalk their prey, kill it, and eventually eat it.  They are very smart creatures who possess an intimate drive for reproduction. Despite domestic cats being provided with food, they still have a natural animal instinct to go hunting every time they feel it. They always have the urge and may try to always get out to look for prey to hunt.

Did you wonder why they will mark an area in the house by spraying their urine? It is because house cats protect their territory and because they try to get out and mate if they can. It is even possible that its territory may extend beyond the house, gate, or even in the backyard especially if there are other cats in the neighborhood or if your cat has a particularly good and colorful view of the outdoors coupled with a good spot for sunlight. They also like to be aware of their environment and to be conscious of dangers in and around their territory. That is why they are considered to be the fastest and smartest animals in the animal kingdom.

What more if the cat is an action star? Yes, you heard it right. If you happen to watch The Prison Break, I am pretty sure that you became an instant fan of the action series that captured the heart of global fans. As much as you would be amazed how this cat escaped from its shelter – Friends for Life Animal Rescue and Adoption Organization, even the staff were astounded by its mysterious escapes – yes, repeatedly.

Here is Quilty, the infamous cat who has been put in confinement for repeated escape operations involving other cats in the shelter. Surely, the other cats enjoy this exciting action movie escapade. He is a rescue cat adopted in the animal shelter and was placed in solitary confinement after it managed to breach the kennels of the other cats and successfully escape. What is more interesting is that he operates multiple times every day. The staff and people in the animal shelter were in awe every time Quilt initiates its escape action. Who wouldn’t be right?

CBS News reported that the permanent records of Quilty demonstrate a sleazy past. He is known to be very versatile in breaching the doors together with its partner in crime – a canine who would then push through the path initially opened by Quilt. Then eventually, they can be sighted at the scene of the crime successfully.

When the confinement punishment was posted on social media, people began to react differently and shared a hashtag #FreeQuilty to plea for its immediate release. However, it did not continue. The staff cannot keep pace with Quilty’s confinement although they exerted their best efforts to do so.  Quilty always releases himself every time!

According to a testimony from Friends for Life Animal Rescue and Adoption Organization posted on Facebook:

“Quilty will not be contained. And he has no shame. We have since Quilty-proofed the cat room, while he took a brief hiatus in the lobby.”

The animal shelter had exerted several efforts just to address the seemingly escape activities of Quilty. This is really interesting because they even managed to build a Quilty-proofed cat room to make sure to contain him. If the cat could talk, I’m genuinely sure he would be proud of himself.

The animal shelter further said:

“His roommates missed him while he was banished to the lobby. They enjoyed their nighttime escapades around the shelter. The staff, however, did not miss the morning cat wrangling, so we’ll just have to agree to disagree there.”

This is the best. Quilty was even not entirely contented with merely breaking out of the shell. He still managed to sneak in on a staff meeting in the shelter a little short while later. Quilty surely knew his forte. He should be the main star in an escape-action movie. His massive fans would really be crazy over him.

Surely, his successful escapades and sneaky operations have garnered continuous and enormous attention over the internet and in the shelter. But it must be noted that this mischievous feline has both stirred and made a handful of people happy. Quilty was still on the journey of finding his “fur-ever” home.  Days after his story went viral on the internet, his story reads states like this:

“I do know that I like to open closed doors. When I see one it challenges me, and I work hard to get it open and I’m usually successful.”

Undoubtedly, his cat statement resembles his personality as depicted in his story.

Meanwhile, there are some potential “fur” parents who visited Quilty in the animal shelter hoping to be the perfect match who would make take good care of him. And it seems to be positive that he may have a new set of doors and kennels to open in the near future – of course, the possibilities are unlimited. He may not just meet a future pair of parents but also some other cats or even other pets such as dogs, birds, or fish.

“He hasn’t shown any slickness at all yet; he is the most loving and affectionate cat I have ever met!” One aspiring parent-visitor said.
