A TikTok video surfaced showing a moment in a wedding in Malaysia in which the bride asks her new husband if she can embrace her ex-boyfriend “one final time” shortly after saying their vows.

The bride, who goes by TikTok username @mayangkumay, posted the short clip, which shows a man walking towards the newly-married couple to give his congratulations. Turns out he is her ex-boyfriend and he extends his hand to offer the congratulatory handshake.

Instead of taking his hand, she turns to her groom and asks him if she can hug her former partner.

“Can I hug him one last time?,” she said to her new husband.

The groom gave his consent, but as his wife and the ex-boyfriend hugged, there seems to be a “hurt” expression on his face. To his credit, the ex-boyfriend looks over to the groom, as if to make sure that it’s really okay.

As the bride tenderly rubs her ex’s back and exchanges a few words with him, the groom watches on awkwardly.

After the embrace, the ex turns to the groom to offer a handshake, but the groom pulls him into a hug instead. The bride turned to hug a female guest who approached her.

The moment became viral on TikTok, garnering more than 2 million views, and has people divided on the propriety of the bride’s gesture.
