Reasons Why You Always Feel Colder Compared With Other People

Do you feel cold while others do not? Here's why.

Feeling chilly during the winter time or when the AC is on is just normal. But, if you’re always shivering or you feel as if your feet and hands are blocks of ice while other people feel warm definitely isn’t normal.

Why do you always feel cold when other people feel toasty? There can be tons of reasons. In fact, feeling unusually cold could be a symptom of many different conditions. Though you might have a natural tendency to be cold, there are many reasons that could explain your chill.

1. You're too thin

One of the obvious reasons is low body weight. The normal body mass index (BMI) is 18.5 to 24.9. Any number below 18.5 is considered low body weight. People who are too thin may have a hard time feeling warm, especially during frigid days since they lack an adequate level of body fat to insulate them from cold temperatures. Consider gaining weight by eating whole and healthy foods that are rich in fat, complex carbohydrates, and protein.

2. Something's wrong with your thyroid gland

If you have cold intolerance, your thyroid may be out of wack. In a condition called hypothyroidism, the thyroid gland is under-active. The thyroid is crucial for many metabolic processes and aids in temperature regulation.

3. You may have anemia

Anemia occurs when the body can’t make adequate numbers of normal blood cells that carry oxygen throughout the body. There are many types of anemia and feeling cold is a symptom of the condition.

4. You have poor circulation

Feeling cold in the hands and feet may signal an underlying cardiovascular condition. If a circulation problem occurs, it can keep blood from flowing to the extremities. It means that the heart is not pumping blood effectively or there is a blockage in the arteries. Poor circulation has many consequences in the body, such as heart disease, lack of oxygen, and hypoxia.

5. You're aging

The older you are, the more cold intolerant you are. The elderly are prone to feeling cold more than younger people, since their metabolism is slower. As a result, they release or produce less heat.

Feeling cold can be normal but if you’re the only one feeling it, you may be suffering from some of the above-mentioned conditions here.
