Mom Shares Way To Recycle Dried Out Markers

You can actually dispose of them in an earth-friendly way.

Anyone who’s into DIY projects knows so well how useful markers are for crafts. And if you have a big collection of markers, you also know what that means for the environment – the dried out ones end up in the landfill.

Unfortunately, there’s no other way of getting rid of these markers once the ink has dried out. The only way is to throw them away in the trash bin. But Crayola wants to do something about it.

If your child has a bunch of markers scattered around your house, imagine how many there are at other households. With this dilemma, one mom talked about recycling these dried out markers on social media, and it went viral.

Hali McCloud shared about Crayola’s program called ColorCycle, in which the company sends out a free shipping label for you to use.

When you have a collection of dried-out markers, you can send them all back to Crayola to be recycled.

The post revealed that these much markers were only collected in three months. The very helpful post has been shared over 300,000 times, so this is clearly an update that parents needed to hear.

“My kids found out about this and were so excited to set up boxes at their schools. These markers were collected in just three months at my son’s preschool! Imagine what we could divert from landfills during the whole school year at every school!”

It doesn’t have to be Crayola brand markers! It can be any marker. Even dry-erase.

Unfortunately for Hawaii or Alaska, Hali noted that Crayola doesn’t have a free shipping option these places at this moment. But the earth-friendly mom shared that she’s paying the fee herself and said that it’s totally worth it.
