The World’s First Water Park For People With Disabilities Is All Sorts of Amazing

Understandably, some people with disabilities may not exactly feel thrilled about the idea of visiting water parks during summer. Besides, most of these facilities are not very accessible and do not cater to their needs. So they usually have to stay in one place and just watch everyone have fun.

Well that has already changed, thanks to a new water park called Morgan’s Inspiration Island. Located in San Antonio, Texas, this amazing water park is the first of it’s kind in the world because it has been made with the needs of disabled individuals in mind.

Sounds interesting, you say? It absolutely is!

Gordon Hartman, founder of the water park, said:

“Our goal is to provide a great guest experience in an inclusive, safe, comfortable, not-overly-crowded environment.”

To turn their vision into reality, Hartman said he worked with “doctors, parents, teachers, special needs therapists, and caregivers,” BoredPanda reported, so they can build a water park that “caters to people with all varieties of disability.”

The newly-opened Morgan’s Inspiration Island is an extension of the Morgan Wonderland.

The venue provides traceable bracelets so parents can easily locate their kids.

Families can use air-powered, waterproof PneuChairs wheelchairs for free as they move around the park.

Every part of the park is accessible by wheelchair.

Additionally, children with “special needs” can enter the park free of charge.

Water can easily be changed from cold to hot in order to cater to the guests’ needs.

Hartman likewise added:

“Morgan’s Inspiration Island promises to give individuals with physical or cognitive special needs a place where they can splash and play without barriers. [It] is not a special-needs park; it’s a park of inclusion.”

Morgan’s Inspiration Island was built in collaboration with doctors, parents, teachers, special needs therapists, and caregivers.

“Our goal is to provide a great guest experience in an inclusive, safe, comfortable, not-overly-crowded environment,” founder Gordon Hartman said.
