Man To Visit Florida In Grim Reaper Costume As Beaches Reopen “Prematurely”

He hopes to remind beachgoers to stay home instead.

  • As Florida confirms reopening its beaches to the public soon, lawyer Daniel Uhlfelder plans to visit in full Grim Reaper costume.
  • According to him, he hopes the stunt will remind people about social distancing and staying home.
  • Governor Ron DeSantis claims Florida has already “flattened the curve.”

As the United States gets more and more confirmed cases of coronavirus, the public remains divided about reopening certain areas to the public. We’ve seen protesters opposing the lockdown and while many of us agree it’s a ridiculous idea, recent news have also revealed that yes, some beaches in Florida are expected to welcome visitors again soon.

A lawyer by profession, Daniel Uhlfelder is entirely against this but in addition to expressing his opinions, he also plans to do something about it.

In a Twitter post, Uhlfelder revealed he’s going to visit the beaches soon – while dressed up as the Grim Reaper.

He tweeted:

“Many of you have asked if I am willing to travel around Florida wearing Grim Reaper attire to the beaches and other areas of the state opening up prematurely. The answer is absolutely yes. Beginning May 1 we will hit the road here in state. Please retweet and spread the word.”

Uhlfelder explained in an NBC News interview:

“I felt like something needed to be done, because they’re moving very quickly to open beaches prematurely. Wearing a Grim Reaper costume seems like a good way to send a signal that this is too fast and that we need to think seriously before we take that step.”

It can be remembered that a significant number of transmissions in the state happened because of spring break parties that took place in local beaches.

Florida has already “flattened the curve,” according to Governor Ron DeSantis.

As of April 25, Florida already has 30,533 COVID-19 infections and 1,046 deaths.

Despite this, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis believes the state has successfully “flattened the curve,” pointing out that the actual figures of infections and deaths are much lower than experts predicted. According to DeSantis, Florida has avoided the same fate as New York and Italy.

Overall, United States remains as the worst-hit country in the world with 925,758 cases and 52,217 deaths.
