When we talk about Wonders of the World, people will easily think along the lines of the New Seven Wonders of the World or the Ancient Wonders of the World. After all, places and monuments included in the foundation-organized list didn’t make there for no reason.

But our Earth still offers more than just seven gorgeous places waiting to be discovered. Those who have gone to these parts of the world are just lucky enough to have seen what nature can offer up-close.

Here are 20 wonders of the world that should be included in your bucket list.

#1. Neuschwanstein Castle, Germany

This castle in Germany is the epitome of fairytale castles. The building was not built during the time when castles are needed as a fortified structure to house nobles. It is one of Europe’s most frequented castles of today.

#2. Easter Island, Chile

This Chilean volcanic island gained its fame from different archaeological sites, but most notable is the monumental statues commonly called moai, or gigantic human heads, which was created by Rapa Nui inhabitants between 10th and 16th centuries.

#3. Christ the Redeemer, Brazil

The humongous statue that sits atop Rio de Janeiro’s Corcovado mountain was created by French sculptor Paul Landowski and erected by Brazilian engineer Heitor da Silva Costa and French engineer Albert Caquot. Christ the Redeemer is currently in the list of the New 7 Wonders of the World.

#4. Great Wall of China

The Great Wall is over 2,300 years old and is also included in the New 7 Wonders of the World. Almost 1/3 of the Great Wall has disappeared without any remains.

This pyramid in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula is one of the New 7 Wonders of the World. It is a popular Mayan temple city, which became the economic and political center of the ancient Mayan civilization.

Dubbed as world’s largest religious monument, the Angkor Wat is believed to be completed in just one night by a divine architect.

#7. Great Pyramid of Giza, Egypt

Out of the three pyramids at El Giza, Egypt, the Great Pyramid, also known as Pyramid of Khufu, is the largest and oldest standing pyramid that is still mostly intact. It is one of the original members of the Ancient Wonders of the World. It has been given an honorary status.

Stonehenge or Stone Circles is the country’s most iconic monument. This ancient wonder is considered by some as a spiritual site, while others visit it for inspiration.

#9. Subterranean River National Park, Philippines

This Underground River in Palawan is located in the Saint Paul Mountain Range. It is included in the New 7 Wonders of Nature. To get to the site of the underground river, one must need to take a boat ride or take an adventurous hike from the town of Sabang.

#10. Lake Baikal, Siberia

Lake Baikal is the oldest and deepest freshwater lake in the world. The lake is surrounded by gorgeous mountains that provide a great view of nature.

#11. Eiffel Tower, France

Located in the City of Lovers, Paris, France, the Eiffel Tower is the country’s tallest building, standing over 1,000 feet tall.

#12. Taj Mahal, India

It took 22 years to complete this majestic architecture. The Taj Mahal is popularly known as a monument of love built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan and dedicated to his wife, Mumtaz.

This colossal structure was a gift from France to the United States.
The female figure wearing a robe and holding a torch represents the Roman goddess Libertas, and she is a symbol of freedom of the country.

A popular landmark of Cape Town, Africa, the Table Mountain is called as such because of its flat-topped form. It is the country’s most frequented by tourists and also a favorite subject of photography.

The Iguazu Falls are the falls that divide Argentina and Brazil. It is included in the New 7 Wonders of Nature. According to legend, a serpent god was waiting on a sacrificial maiden, named Naipi, who ran away with her mortal lover in a canoe. The angry serpent divided the river, resulting to the magnificent waterfalls of today.

#17. Burj Khalifa, Dubai

The Burj Khalifa is a skyrise building known as the world’s tallest, reaching a height of 2,722 feet. The Burj Khalifa was constructed in 2004 and its exterior was finished in 2009.

#18. Machu Picchu, Peru

Machu Picchu is is proof of an Incan civilization. It is made up of a complex of temples, plazas and paalces that may have served as a military fortress, ceremonial site or a sanctuary for the ruling elites.

#19. Bay of Fundy, Canada

This North American bay is famous for its high tides. In fact, it has the world’s highest tides. Things to do in this natural wonder include hiking on trails and kayaking.

#20. Petra, Jordan

This famous archaeological site in Jordan is about 300 B.C. old. Petra is also referred to as the Rose City because of the rose pink-colored sandstone cliffs that the structures were carved from. Petra is also included in the New 7 Wonders of the World.
