  • Justin Montney and Alexis-Athena Wyatt hired Copper Stallion Media to cover their wedding in May.
  • Unfortunately, Wyatt died in a car accident, forcing Montney to cancel everything.
  • However, the videographer refused a refund and even posted harsh words about the couple.

How do you destroy your business in just three days? Well, Copper Stallion Media did it, after publicly posting scathing words against their clients Justin Montney and Alexis-Athena Wyatt. The couple booked their services for their May wedding in Colorado. However, Wyatt, 22, tragically died in a car accident in early February.

Montney then cancelled all wedding arrangements and requested a refund from Copper Stallion Media but he was refused. They told him that the $1,800 fee was non-refundable.

After that communication, Montney did not hear anything from them for months. He tried calling Copper Stallion Media but still failed to reach them.

He also let the company know about his plan to finally tell his friends and post about their refusal on social media.

In return, Copper Stallion Media threatened to sue him and Wyatt’s family. The grieving groom then decided to raise his complaints to a local news agency in Kansas.

As soon as the published article came out, Copper Stallion Media mocked Montney and his late fiancé.

The company wrote:

“Justin pulled with the media stunt to try and shake us down for a refund… We hope you sob and cry all day for what would have been your wedding day. Sorry, not sorry,”

Of course, it didn’t take long before the videographer’s post sparked a widespread outrage from netizens.

Wyatt’s mother couldn’t contain her anger.

“This is Alexis’ mom. I just want you to know how disgusted I am with your company. You are truly heartless. You as a small business should be more compassionate towards your clients,” she said.

The videographer threatened Wyatt’s mother that they will file a defamation case against her and Montney. The company also created a website under the domain name: JustinMontney.com to build their case against him.

The website accused Montney for fuelling a “smear campaign”. After receiving several attacks from netizens, the creator temporarily erased the website.

Since the article came out, Copper Stallion Media received poor ratings on Yelp and the Knot.

The website firmly said that they will never refund Montney even because of all the online threats and harassment.

“If we knew he was going to shake us down, we would have charged a higher deposit,” the company wrote.

Buzzfeed News cited a statement from Knot Worldwide saying a false vendor named Jesse J. Clarke allegedly created the Copper Stallion account on the Knot and Wedding Wire Sites.

As soon as they learned the false identity representation, Knot Worldwide removed Copper Stallion Media from the market. It also said that the company’s behavior and actions are in direct violation of its Terms of Use.

In 2013, more than 90 couples accused a Jesse J. Clark of scamming them as he failed to deliver their paid wedding videos. It is not clear if Clark is the same as Jesse J. Clark.
