Video Captures The Exact Moment The Beirut Explosion Happened During A Wedding Photoshoot

The precise moment the shockwave stirred the bride's skirts and threw her off balance.

  • The 29-year-old Lebanese bride was all smiles as she posed in her wedding dress at Saifi Square.
  • The shockwave from the explosion stirred up the bride’s wedding dress and knocked down the photographer’s camera.
  • The bride and groom tried to compose themselves afterwards and continued with the wedding.

It was supposed to be just another beautiful photoshoot featuring the lovely bride on the happiest day of her life. But this happened on Beirut on August 4, 2020 and her supposedly perfect day turned into tragedy for the entire city.

Wedding photographer Mahmoud Nakib was having an outdoor photoshoot with Lebanese bride Israa Seblani, who was wearing her stunning long-sleeved wedding dress.

Completely unaware of what was about to happen, the 29-year-old Seblani was all smiles as she posed among the buildings, trees, and benches in Saifi Square.
Nakib was shooting away when the shockwave from the explosion stirred up the bride’s wedding dress and knocked down his camera.

The port, where the blast originated, was less than a mile away from where the shoot was taking place. The photographer shared the footage of the fateful day on social media.

His camera caught the exact moment that the blast swept the bride away as windows glasses shattered and objects came flying to different directions.
Afterwards, his live footage showed the chairs and tables on the square overturned or destroyed.

The bride was hurriedly escorted away from the scene by her groom and another man who helped her with her dress’ train.

Seblani and her 34-year-old groom Ahmad Subeih had been preparing for their big day for two weeks. They were in total shock with what happened.

“I was shocked, I was wondering what happened, am I going to die? How am I going to die?” she said.

The couple tried to compose themselves afterwards and continued with the wedding.

“My husband told me to continue, we can’t stop. I was like okay, why not, we continue. I was not living the moment actually, I was like walking, my face was smiling, my lips were smiling, that’s it, not more. Then we went to have a dinner,” Seblani recalled.

Seblani is a doctor working in the United States and arrived in Beirut three weeks before her wedding. After the explosion, she helped check on the injured people nearby and then she and her husband left the place.

The couple was interviewed after the event, in which they expressed their gratitude to be still alive.

The two posed in the same place where their wedding day was rocked by the massive explosion.

“There is a lot of damage, many people were killed and wounded. But also if I want to look at us, myself, my husband, the photographer – how we escaped unharmed, I thank God for protecting us,” she said.
