Vegan Influencer Makes Excuses After Being Caught Eating Fish

One netizen wrote, “If you don't want to be Vegan then don't but don't be a liar and profit from those that look up to you. That's disgusting.”

There is nothing wrong with being vegan, and it’s definitely okay to eat fish. But when a popular vegan influencer gets caught up in the middle of exploiting the very people she claims to represent, that’s when it becomes an issue.

Posting as Rawvana, Yovana Ayres promotes her raw vegan lifestyle to her over two million YouTube subscribers and almost 1.5 million followers on Instagram. But the thing is, a friend of hers posted a video of her eating fish, where she even tried to hide her meal with her arms, but failed. The social media star then released an apology video, but it made things even worse.

Ayres claimed that being vegan “completely changed” her life for the better. So why did Rawvana have a fish on her plate, you ask? Well, according to her 33-minute video titled “This is what is happening,” Ayres confessed that although she has been vegan for six years, she recently began incorporating fish and eggs into her diet.

After going to the doctors to get tested, the 29-year-old learned that “her hormones were out of whack.” Rawvana also revealed that she was diagnosed with small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), which can cause malnourishment.

She explained in the video:

“By this whole time I was starting to feel desperate for my health and to find a solution around the summertime, and that’s when I started to open up to the possibility of adding some animal product into my diet. “

What angered her followers the most is not the fact that Rawvana got caught eating fish, but how she kept her new routine a secret while continuing to sell her diet plans.

Ayres said that she didn’t open up about this information because she felt she was still experimenting and still believes in and wants to advocate for a vegan lifestyle, so she continued being Rawvana.

Despite her admission, Ayres is still selling her diet plans that include vegan meals for up to $99 on her website, and netizens are not so happy about it.

Some of the comments read:

“Rawvana was really selling a weight loss plan when she wasn’t getting her period and was having health issues? That’s really NOT okay.”

“I’m not mad at the fact that you’re eating fish. I’m mad at the fact that you’re lying to all your followers and making money off of them claiming to be a raw vegan. Eat whatever you want, just don;t claim to be something you’re not.”

“If you don’t want to be Vegan then don’t but don’t be a liar and profit from those that look up to you. That’s disgusting.”
