Rihanna Donates $5M to Food Banks Amid COVID-19 Outbreak

The pop star is doing her part in fighting the coronavirus outbreak!

  • Rihanna is proving that people can do so much more in the face of a global pandemic.
  • The pop star has just donated a whopping $5 million to organizations in the fight against the coronavirus outbreak.
  • The donation was made through Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation.

There is little doubt that Rihanna is one of the biggest pop stars in the industry, having sold millions of albums and owning a wildly successful cosmetics company. However, the ‘Umbrella’ singer has also proven that she has a heart of gold. Rihanna’s foundation has just donated $5 million to help fight the coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19).

Rihanna’s foundation Clara Lionel Foundation has confirmed that it is distributing $5 million to food banks serving communities that are at risk due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to that, the donation will be used in testing resources in underprivileged countries and provide protective equipment and training for health workers.

Rihanna is doing what she can to fight COVID-19!

According to the statement from the Clara Lionel Foundation, the donation will assist organizations like Direct Relief, Feeding America, Partners in Health, The World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, the International Rescue Committee, and many others.

“When we first began this year, never could we have imagined how COVID-19 would so dramatically alter our lives. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from, this pandemic will affect us all. And for the world’s most vulnerable, the worst may be yet to come,” the statement read.

“Over the past five years CLF has been one of the first organizations to respond to some of the world’s most devastating natural disasters, and we’ve seen firsthand the profound and unintended consequences of not being prepared.”

Rihanna founded the Clara Lionel Foundation in 2012 in honor of her grandparents Clara and Lionel Braithwaite. Since then, the foundation supports and funds groundbreaking emergency preparedness and education work around the world. This is especially true at a time when the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting the world.
