Bolivian Soccer Player Adopts Stray Dog Who Interrupts Match

He decided to adopt the dog after it was injured a few days after the match.

  • The stray dog suddenly wandered out to the pitch and ran around in circles, which prompted the match to be paused.
  • Raul Castro from The Strongest picked the dog up and carried him over to the sidelines.
  • Castro decided to adopt the dog, who was named Cachito, after the latter was injured and take to the shelter a few days after the match.

During the Christmas Eve match between Bolivian soccer league clubs The Strongest and Club Atlético Nacional Potosí in the capital La Paz, a dog suddenly wandered out to the pitch and ran around in circles, which prompted the match to be paused.

The adorable pooch, who had a player’s cleat in his mouth, made a wonderful sight as he ran freely around the field before the play halted during the second half.

Raul Castro from The strongest picked the dog up and carried him over to the sidelines.

The dog then proceeded to lay on the grass as the players affectionately petted him. It proved to be a lucky charm for The Strongest as they won the match 3-0.

Unfortunately, the dog got injured after it was struck by a vehicle a few days after the match. He was rescued and taken to the shelter.

Upon hearing the news, the 31-year-old Castro decided to adopt him.

“I got in contact with the shelter and told them that I will adopt him. He will be named Cachito, the name people gave him.”

He added that he would arrange for Cachito to be taken home with him after a road match in Santa Cruz.

This is only one of the numerous stories of animals interrupting sports matches. In July 2019, a cat disrupts the match between Mexico’s Tigres UANL and Real Salt Lake during a Leagues Cup game in Salt Lake City.

On August 2015, a monkey ran past the players during a test cricket match in Galle, Sri Lanka.

In March 2013, a bird flies past goalkeeper Cristian Vampestrini of Argentina’s Arsenal Sarandi during a Copa Libertadores match against Brazil’s Sao Paulo, in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

In October 2011, a squirrel runs on the field during the NFL game between the Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Wembley stadium in London.
