People Who Are Always Late Are More Likely To Live Longer And Become More Successful

Do you know anyone who's always late? Maybe they've heard of these studies before.

Being late is always considered as a very undesirable trait. From missing an important moment to stalling everyone else’s plans due to tardiness, being late can have negative impacts on a person’s reputation and so punctuality is often given great emphasis.

Surprisingly, leaving your family and friends waiting for your late arrival may have a positive impact on you. As shocking as it sounds, but being late may be connected with traits of successful people.

Recent studies have shown that the shared personality traits of people who are bad at being on time are likely to live longer and become more successful.

As it turns out, being late can be linked to optimism, which is a type B personality. Those who have an inexact sense of time has a tendency to multitask both at home and at the office. These traits are clearly positive that could lead to success.

Those with a type A personalities (on time, generally) are more likely to perceive time as being passed quickly, while those with type B personalities are known to be creative and perceive time as going much slower. In the end, the one who is less concerned with getting somewhere on time is likely to be happier.

According to Harvard Medical School, people who have an optimistic and “cheerful disposition” are more likely to live longer — a trait associated with being late, and therefore they are more optimistic about time management.

The study read:

“More impressive is the impact of a positive outlook on overall health and longevity. Research tells us that an optimistic outlook early in life can predict better health and a lower rate of death during follow-up periods of 15 to 40 years.”

While being late appears to do more good than harm for those who are not punctual, it is still worth noting that you should always be considerate with people who are waiting for you. And if you’re often late at your job, for instance, it will definitely impact your chances of getting that promotion.

So the bottom line is, don’t be late, for the sake of your family and friends. But do try and stress less.
