Techie Mom Conducts Experiment with Her Children to Find Heartwarming Results

Are you a parent who find sanctuary in the Internet? It's time to look away from your phone because you might not know what kind of message you're sending your kids.

People nowadays tend to neglect more important things and turn to the temporary escape offered by technology. In fact, there is proof that the Internet and gadgets are partly to blame for the growing gap between parents and their children especially in families with little ones.

When they are still very young, children tend to absorb everything they see and hear from adults. They talk like you, eat like you, and may even dress like you. This is because children see the adults particularly their parents as their role model.

Unfortunately, not all parents understand this and tend to neglect the fact that being a parent is a full time job—there are no break times, no day offs, and no vacations. But still, there are those who allow their children play on their own without fully minding what is happening. One of them is Brandie Wood, a mother of a pair of four-year-old twin boys.

Are your children hungry for your attention?

Brandie is a young mother and tends to lose herself while surfing the internet on her smartphone. She gets so absorbed that sometimes, she forgets that her children are with her.

One day, she decided to conduct an experiment. She put down her smartphone and just observed the boys. And what she found out totally melted her heart.

Sitting at a corner with a pen and paper, Brandie allowed the twins to play together. Using the paper and pen, she tallied the number of times that her boys look towards her. After a while, she counted 28.

In that moment, she wondered what the boys were thinking. Were they wondering if their mom thinks the Internet is more important than them? Were they asking her why she left them all alone emotionally?

After sharing her story over Facebook, she pleaded to all other parents: “In a world where we are accepted as who people perceive us to be and not who we really are, in a world where validation comes from how many followers or likes we have, in a world where quality time with loved ones is being replaced by isolation and text messages from the other room, I beg you to be different.

“Please put down your technology and spend some time with your family & loved ones. The next generation of children is counting on us to teach them how to be adults, don’t be too busy on social media, you never know who is watching and what message you are sending.”
