Obese Man Lost Half of His Bodyweight Thanks to Concerned Bodybuilders Online

This is the inspiring story of how an overweight man lost half of his weight with the help of an bodybuilders' community.

“it’s never too late to be who you might have been” – George Eliot

This, according to Jesse Shand of Michigan, was the quote that perfectly defined his experience. He was overweight, weighing almost 700 pounds in 2013. As a result of this, he didn’t shower or leave his mobile home for years and instead spent his days in front of his computer. One random day, he decided to troll bodybuilders by signing up on a bodybuilding forum and starting a thread called “Ask the fattest man on this site anything”.

This is a photo of Jesse in 2013. He weighed around 700 pounds during the time this photo was taken.

Waiting for the taunts and jeers to come, he was surprised when he didn’t get any. In fact, the bodybuilders even urged and encouraged him to do something about his health and weight.

Because he couldn’t move around too much because of his weight, a member recommended that he flop around in his seat to burn calories. Which was what he exactly did to start his weight-loss program. Eventually, he moved on to doing cardio workouts and some basic strength training. He also reduced his food intake and religiously recorded his meals.

Slowly but surely, he began to see positive results.

For the first time in years, he was able to get out of his house and take a shower outside. He also slimmed down enough to fit into the driver’s seat of his car, enabling him to visit a doctor for a check-up.

After these milestones, he decided he needed to up the ante – by applying for a gym membership.

And that was when the real work towards his weight loss began. He spent months working out at the gym to reduce his weight.

His mother even posted a thank-you message for the kind people who helped him throughout his journey to weight loss. For Jessie, it wasn’t just the weight he lost; he shed his insecurities and negativity together with the pounds he lost. He is now able to live a normal life and do the things he only used to wonder about.

Jessie’s story is proof of how a simple act of kindness and encouragement can go a long way. Let his story be an inspiration to everyone who wants to accomplish something in their lives. never think that it’s too late and you can’t do it, for Jessie and his experience is a living proof of the indomitable spirit of humans and humanity itself.
