  • Nike is donating 30,000 pairs of Air Zoom Pulse, a shoe specifically designed for “health care athletes.”
  • The brand is making the donation as frontliners continue working amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Nike is giving away 30,000 pairs of shoes exclusively for healthcare workers in hospitals and medical facilities across the United States. In an official announcement, the popular footwear manufacturer said they are donating pairs of Air Zoom Pulse, which is their “first shoe designed for the healthcare athlete.”

Initially released in November 2019, the said shoe design was created with the “everyday hero” in mind. Now the company is making the donation for frontliners working during the pandemic.

Free Nikes for frontliners!

According to a statement posted on the company website, the Air Zoom Pulse’s “fit, cushioning and traction systems work together to secure the foot in hospital conditions.”

Nike has partnered with non-profit organization Good360 to distribute the footwear to medical professionals in Chicago, Los Angeles, Memphis, New York, and others. The company also mentioned they will be giving around 95,000 pairs of soccer socks for frontliners in New York City and Los Angeles.

“The effort is led by messages of gratitude to healthcare professionals,” stated Nike. “From one athlete to another, Nike athletes recognize the physical and mental resilience of healthcare athletes.”

Nike chief social and community impact officer Jorge Casimiro added:

“[We want frontline workers] to feel our sincere gratitude and appreciation for everything that they’re doing. They are on the frontlines. They are our health-care athletes and they are doing everything they can every day to make sure that we come out of this pandemic as best as possible.”

Meanwwhile, Mayor Bill de Blasio of New York City expressed his gratitude to the company “for supporting our front line health care heroes.”
