There’s more to them than meets the eye. Because they’re actually robots in disguise! We are, of course, talking about Transformers and it looks like fans of the beloved franchise have great reason to rejoice.

Netflix has just dropped a short trailer for a new animated series featuring some of the most iconic Transformers characters. According to reports we’ve gathered online, Transformers: War for Cybertron will be a three-part film series and chapter one will be entitled Siege.

Unveiled during the New York Toy Fair, the trailer gave fans a tasty sneak peak of what’s about to come which, as the title implies, involves lots of fighting.

Apparently, Decepticon leader Megatron is hunting for the Allspark in an attempt to “reformat” the Autobots. Optimus Prime has to lead his team to foil the baddies’ plans.

Netflix’ video description on YouTube reads this way:

“In the midst of ongoing war on Cybertron, forces of good and evil clash as they search for the source of their power: the Allspark. This may not be the life they imagined, but it’s a life worth fighting for.”

Meanwhile, fan-favorite characters such as Bumblebee, Ironhide, Jetfire, Ultra Magnus, Shockwave, and Starscream, among others, have all been spotted in the trailer.

Transformers: War for Cybertron will feature the voices of Jake Foushee as Optimus Prime and Jason Mamocha as Megatron. Rooster Teeth Studios and Polygon Pictures will be working on the animation, in collaboration with Netflix and Hasbro.

For example, one commenter wrote:

“A Transformers series with no humans and set on Cybertron count me in!”

Meanwhile, another said:

“Let us hope the actual series is just as amazing as this trailer.”

So far, Netflix has not announced a release date yet.
