NASA’s Official Mission Posters Are Awesome And Cringeworthy At The Same Time

Yes, NASA has official movie-style posters for their space missions!

As kids, most of us grew up dreaming of becoming astronauts. In our young eyes, we saw it as the coolest job in the world. Besides, astronauts get to explore outer space alll the time – just like in our favorite sci-fi movies.

Well as it turns out, there’s at least one more similarity between astronauts and movies. In a BoredPanda feature, we learn that the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) actually has official posters for their space missions and many of them are direct references to pop culture.

As the article tells us:

“Since the very first International Space Station mission in 2000, NASA has been creating expedition posters usually featuring a group photo of the crew. These posters were used to advertise expeditions and were also hung in NASA facilities and other government organizations. However, when astronauts got bored of the standard group photos they decided to spice things up a bit.”

NASA’s mission posters have since gained a lot of attention online and netizens have different opinions about it, with some calling it ‘cool’ and with others saying they look ‘pretty awkward.’

We’ll leave it up for you to decide, folks! Check out the posters below and tell us what you think about them.

In the feature‘s comment section, we read mixed reactions from commenters.

One threw a pun and wrote:

“I spaced out for a bit looking at some of these.”

Meanwhile, another pointed out:

“Just a bunch of geeks doing geek things and having fun. I’m sure everyone in these posters LOVED them!”

Personally, I agree that the posters are kinda cool. We gotta allow these guys have fun before going on their high pressure missions.
