The Mountain From ‘Game Of Thrones’ Looks Ridiculous Holding Regular-Sized Mug

It looks like a teacup you get with your tea party play set!

There’s a good reason why Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson was chosen to portray The Mountain in Game of Thrones. At 6ft 9in and 400 pounds, he is roughly the size of a small hill. So it’s no surprise that when Björnsson posted a photo of himself enjoying some hot chocolate, people initially thought he was holding a toy instead of a regular-sized mug.

Björnsson, who is also called Thor, shared the photo on his official Instagram account. It shows the Game of Thrones actor with his wife Kelsey Henson in the snowy outdoors and they are both holding mugs of hot choco. It’s a sweet picture of the couple yet people couldn’t help but comment about the size of Björnsson’s mug.

We’re not even sure if that mug’s real.

People have always been in awe with Björnsson’s size even before he started playing Gregor Clegane in the HBO series. The Icelandic strongman started out by playing basketball in 2004. However, an injury forced Björnsson to take on a different career.

It was fellow Icelandic strongman Magnús Ver Magnússon who convinced Björnsson to join strongman contests. In 2011 alone, he won the 2011 Strongest Man in Iceland contest as well as Iceland’s Strongest Man contest.

Björnsson broke a major record in 2015 when he joined the World’s Strongest Viking competition held in Norway. The actor carried a 33-foot long, 1,430 lb log for five steps and broke a 1,000-year-old record set by the legendary Orm Storolfsson.

Not convinced that Björnsson is someone you shouldn’t mess with? He just happens to hold the title as the current World’s Strongest Man. In addition to that, Björnsson is this year’s Europe’s Strongest Man and is champion of the Arnold Strongman Classic 2018. He also makes Arnold Schwarzenegger look like a normal-sized person.

Björnsson is set to reprise his role as The Mountain in Game of Thrones Season 8, which is set to premiere on HBO on April 14.
