Living in the most toxic places on earth is a dilemma many people are facing today. They seem to be helpless and forgotten by the world’s elite society. It is a sad reality that needs to be changed as soon as possible before it’s too late.

The world must unite to keep the environment healthy and safe for the generation to come. We must learn to contribute even in the littlest way possible. The world will be a better place to live in if humans abusing nature stop.

Here are seven of the planet’s most toxic places.

Yamuna River, India

Millions of people dump their waste straight into the Yamuna River. Despite the fact that it is one of the world’s most polluted water, most of New Delhi’s population relies on these sewage-filled river for drinking.

Lake Karachay, Russia

This lake in Russia actually looks gorgeous in some photos, but it is being called the most toxic spot on earth because of the radioactive waste dumped there. There have been cases of different diseases including cancer in the surrounding areas because of radioactive exposure.

Linfen, China

Fly-ash, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, arsenic, lead, nitrogen oxides–you name it. This coal-mining city in China has it all.

Rondonia, Brazil

Tens of thousands of acres have been burned down in this once beautiful jungle. This place in Brazil is the most deforested area of the great Amazon Rainforest.

La Oroya, Peru

This Peruvian city with lead-contaminated air, soil and water has largely contributed to the population’s increasing health problem. It is reported to have started after a North American company allowed toxic lead to spread across this once beautiful town.

The Great Pacific Garbage Patch

It is an island of trash located in the North Pacific Ocean. It is said to be two times the size of Texas. Most debris found here are mostly small plastic particles.

Space

It may not be seen through the naked eye but space has more than 4 million pounds of man-made debris such as old satellites and fragments from disintegration. They are accidents waiting to happen that may cause communication and satellite failures.

The Citarum River, Indonesia

This is known to be the most polluted river in the world. According to the country’s health officials, there are over five million people who throw their waste directly to this river.

Chernobyl, Ukraine

This place became popular following the worst nuclear plant accident in history. Due to its radioactive exposure, the place is now a ghost town.

Haiti

This used to be a beautiful country, which had a forest that covered 60 percent of their land. Today, it merely covers 2 percent of the whole country.

Kabwe, Zambia

This is another place that was destroyed by mining and processing. The land of Kabwe is said to be very toxic that nothing grows on it.

Appalachia, West Virginia

Yet another place affected by mining. What surprising is it happened in the US, which supposedly has stricter environmental laws.

Dzerzhinsk, Russia

This Russian city holds the record as the most polluted place in the whole world. The place is so toxic that it has more deaths rates than birth rates.

Riachuelo Basin, Argentina

Its water is the dumping site of more than 3,500 factories, along with the illegal sewage from the slums that surround the basin.

Vapi, India

This city is a dumping ground of all kinds of chemicals. Vapi is not really the ideal place to live in.
