This Peruvian city with lead-contaminated air, soil and water has largely contributed to the population’s increasing health problem. It is reported to have started after a North American company allowed toxic lead to spread across this once beautiful town.

The Great Pacific Garbage Patch

It is an island of trash located in the North Pacific Ocean. It is said to be two times the size of Texas. Most debris found here are mostly small plastic particles.

It may not be seen through the naked eye but space has more than 4 million pounds of man-made debris such as old satellites and fragments from disintegration. They are accidents waiting to happen that may cause communication and satellite failures.

The Citarum River, Indonesia

This is known to be the most polluted river in the world. According to the country’s health officials, there are over five million people who throw their waste directly to this river.

Chernobyl, Ukraine

This place became popular following the worst nuclear plant accident in history. Due to its radioactive exposure, the place is now a ghost town.

This used to be a beautiful country, which had a forest that covered 60 percent of their land. Today, it merely covers 2 percent of the whole country.

Kabwe, Zambia

This is another place that was destroyed by mining and processing. The land of Kabwe is said to be very toxic that nothing grows on it.
