Mom Forced to Choose Between Two Sons Who BOTH Needed Her Kidney to Live

It was the toughest decision a mother could ever be made to face – and it certainly broke her heart to make a choice between her two sons who both needed her kidney to live. Of course, she only has to choose one because she needed her other kidney to stay alive.

Faced with the heartbreaking dilemma, Lian Ronghua could only cry helplessly as she contemplated which among the two she should choose: the elder Li Haiqing (26 years old) or younger Li Haisong (24 years old). Her husband’s kidneys were alright but he could not become a donor because of his high blood pressure.

An aspiring doctor, the elder brother chose to sacrifice his own life for his brother, making the tough choice in behalf of their mother. Even with Haiqing’s sacrifice, Ronghua was still horrified at the thought that the young man would die while the younger son lived.

Before the surgery Ronghua wept and said:

I only have one kidney and I can only save one son.’No matter who I give it to it’s unfair.

On their way to the operating theater, Ronghua was inconsolable. Afterwards, her husband and Haiqing helped transfer her to bed.

The operation was successful but the family is still hoping a kidney could be found for Haiqing. However, even if they eventually found a donor, the family might not be able to afford the second operation; thus, Haiqing is resigned to the thought that he does not have a long time to live.
