Missionary Killed With Arrows By Endangered Tribe He Tried To Convert To Christianity

Reports are saying that the culprits couldn't be persecuted.

An American missionary has recently been slain by an endangered tribe. According to reports, he bravely went to their remote island with an intention to convert them to Christianity – he ended up getting rained by arrows instead.

27-year-old John Allen Chau went to the North Sentinel Island of the isolated Andaman Islands in India. Apparently, he paid local fisherman to take him there on a boat and then he eventually went there alone using a canoe.

American missionary John Allen Chau, 27, wanted to preach the gospel to an isolated tribe.

Upon his arrival, however, he was greeted by arrows from the local tribe and now reports are saying that the culprits couldn’t be persecuted for it.

William Stark, regional manager of International Christian Concern, said:

“We… are extremely concerned by the reports of an American missionary being murdered in India’s Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to both John’s family and friends.

“A full investigation must be launched in this this murder and those responsible must be brought to justice. India must take steps to counter the growing wave of intolerance and violence.”

So far, only the fishermen who took the missionary to the island have been arrested – but not any members from the tribe.

Police official Deepak Yadav issued a statement saying they have launched an investigation. The statement further read:

“(Chau) tried to reach the Sentinel island on November 14 but could not make it. Two days later he went well prepared. He left the dingy midway and took a canoe all by himself to the island.

“He was attacked by arrows but he continued walking. The fishermen saw the tribals tying a rope around his neck and dragging his body. They were scared and fled but returned next morning to find his body on the sea shore.”

Other details were not revealed because of privacy concerns.

In 2004, a Sentinelese tribe member was photographed shooting arrows at a helicopter.

The message is clear, the island has to be off-limits from the outside world.
