Meet the ‘Real-Life Rapunzel’ From Russia Who Has Been Growing Her Hair For 13 Years!

She'll continue to grow her hair until it reaches her feet.

“Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair!”

Dashik Gubanova Freckle has probably been told this line a hundred of times already. But this Russian woman isn’t trapped in some creepy tower, isolated, and unknown to the rest of the world. In fact, she has become quite popular since she posted her pictures, which consequently gained her hundreds of thousands of followers on social media.

For more than 13 years, she refused to cut her gorgeous locks, which now reach the lower half of her shins. Freckle has been dubbed as the “real-life Rapunzel” by over 104,000 people who follow her on Instagram since she started documenting and sharing updates about her exceptionally long, brown mane.

According to Freckle, she has started letting her tresses grow long since 2003. She intends to chop it off in 2017 when it finally reaches her toes. Ultimately, she wants to donate her gorgeous plaits to help make wigs.

She wrote:

“This post is for those who say that I should donate their hair for wigs. In 14 years, I cut a scythe. And donate hair for wigs.”

“Today, I grow hair. My goal is to grow them to toe. (Sorry for my English) [sic].”

Many women (and men, too) know how challenging it is to grow and maintain long hair. It requires time and patience. We also worry about split ends, dryness, and other damages caused by frequent styling. Moreover, treatments and some products such as moisturizers or conditioners are quite expensive. But while some people question how she’s able to manage her long locks, like how she blow dries and keep it clean, the majority of comments she receives are positive.

A woman wrote on Instagram:

“You remind me of a Barbie doll. I love everything about you. Keep it up.”

“My friend showed me your videos on FaceBook and I just wanted to tell you I am fascinated by your hair. It’s so beautiful,” another follower said.
