“Language Chameleon” Impressively Speaks 9 Languages With Great Fluency

Matthew Youlden will blow you away with his linguistic skills - because he can speak 9 languages fluently.

We all have that friend who can fluently speak more than his or her native language. He or she may have learned one or two other languages at school or from staying in a foreign country for a few years.

Regardless of how they acquired their skill, it’s always impressive to hear them speak, especially if they can carry a good conversation. Just imagine an American guy talking flawless Japanese. Or a Chinese woman who does fluent French. That would be pretty amusing to watch.

Actually, you can check out many talented multilingual individuals by browsing videos on YouTube. Some are showing their linguistic skills through conversation while others are covering foreign songs.

If you love viewing such videos, you will surely be blown away by the extraordinary skills of Matthew Youlden.

Hailing from Manchester, England, Matthew Youlden has been considered by many as a “language chameleon.”

Why? Well, this guy speaks 9 languages and can understand more than a dozen.

He has successfully fooled native speakers of the languages he knows. For example, Germans are easily convinced that he is also a German. Italians find it hard to believe that he is not a native Italian.

How does Matthew approach his study of these languages? According to him:

“I think each language has a certain way of seeing the world. If you speak one language then you have a different way of analyzing and interpreting the world than the speaker of another language does. Even if they’re really closely-related languages such as Spanish and Portuguese, which are to a certain extent mutually intelligible, they are at the same time two different worlds – two different mindsets.

In that regard, he added:

“The monolingual lifestyle, for me, is the saddest, the loneliest, the most boring way of seeing the world. There are so many advantages of learning a language; I really can’t think of any reason not to.”

Aside from English, he also speaks Catalan, French, German, Hebrew, Irish, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish.
