It's always been a quiet and peaceful rural area. But not anymore because of Disney!
Residents of a small town in the United Kingdom are reportedly unhappy about a Star Wars set built on their village. According to reports, the massive set was created for the upcoming Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi.
As it appears, the quarry site located in Little Marlow, Bucks has been transformed into an “intergalactic war zone,” much to the dismay of locals living in the typically silent and peaceful town. So while Disney has obtained approval from the council, the residents aren’t exactly enthusiastic about the whole thing and are now complaining about pollution, traffic, and wildlife disruption.
In a media interview, an unnamed source said:
“This is a massive production and a hugely lucrative franchise – but obviously not everyone locally is pleased to see Disney moving in.
“It might generate some jobs, but this is a pretty rural area which has always been quiet and peaceful – the thought of turning it into some sort of intergalactic war zone to make TV shows is horrifying.“
“The set is massive, with great big buildings on it alongside loads of heavy duty machinery coming and going – it’s just totally out of keeping with the countryside vibe here and people are up in arms about it,” the source likewise added.
So far, the highly-anticipated series – which Lucasfim President Kathleen Kennedy dubs as “the rematch of the century” – still does not have a confirmed release date.
