Hospitalized Man Regrets Injecting Himself With Own Semen To “Cure” His Back Pain

Using a hypodermic needle, he injected one monthly dose of his own semen into his forearm for 18 months.

  • A 33-year-old male tried to solve his chronic lower back pain by injecting one monthly dose of his own semen into his forearm for 18 months.
  • His arm got all red and swollen because of a deep abscess that developed.
  • The man was hospitalized and given intravenous antimicrobial treatment immediately.

Back pain seems to be an unavoidable part of aging for a lot of people, which is why lots of remedies – from painkillers to therapy – have been made to ease it, even at least temporarily.

But no matter how excruciating your back pain is, never attempt to do what this dude did – injecting himself with semen as an “alternative medicine.”

In a study published by the Irish Medical Journal, a 33-year-old male tried to solve his chronic lower back pain by injecting one monthly dose of his own semen into his forearm. This is he did using hypodermic needle, for 18 consecutive months.

As you can guess, the results were ugly. The man’s arm got all red and swollen because of a deep abscess that developed, combined with semen and god-knows-what-else infecting the area. A blood test confirmed the infection.

What baffled doctors even more is how the man came up with the bizarre “treatment.” They researched the internet from top to bottom to see where he got the idea, but they were not able to find anything that might serve as the man’s source. They assumed that he came up with the idea all on his own.

Dr. L. Dunne of Adelaide and Meath Hospital in Dublin said that “A search of more eclectic internet sites and forums found no other documentation of semen injection for back pain treatment or other uses.”

The man was hospitalized and given intravenous antimicrobial treatment immediately and was discharged shortly. The ironic thing is that his back pain improved during his stay in the hospital, as he was getting treated for his supposed “treatment.”

As bizarre as the case was, it actually served a purpose since there seems to be no other documentation of the effect of having semen injected into the human body.

“Although there is a report of the effects of subcutaneous semen injection into rats and rabbits, there were no cases of intravenous semen injection into humans found across the literature,” Dr. Dunne added.
