Dog Lives In Luxury In His Fancy Doghouse His Human Tucked Under A Staircase

This pitbull pup is living the life in a luxurious doghouse his owner built under the staircase.

A lot of us turn into instant designers and contractors when it comes to home renovation. The space under staircases is usually the project subject of most homeowners these days. We’ve seen people turning the unused space into storage cabinets, passage to an underground room, bookshelves, shoes or coat closets, or indoor playhouse for the kids.

There are indeed a lot ways you can convert these under the staircase areas into something more useful. But this man has a more unique idea on how he can add up some value to his home.

This doghouse was very well thought of that the owner of this nook is probably living the best days of his life.

Imgur user LuisCottoEMS shared his one-of-a-kind project online. Since he pets a dark grey pit bull he named Nickel, Luis decided to build him his own haven inside his house without making it crowded through the space under the stairs.

Luis came up with the project of turning the unused space into a luxurious doghouse for Nickel. He shopped for some drywall and paint from the hardware store and immediately got to work.

This space under the staircase was used by Luis for the project for his beloved Nickel.

And it is no ordinary dog house. He dressed the space with trendy decors, placed a façade and installed its own fence. Nickel is surely one lucky dog for getting the opportunity to celebrate his privacy without having to be apart with his favorite human.

Looking at Nickel’s house, it is pretty obvious that Luis used much thought on coming up with the amazing design. And like building a human’s house, the project also went through several phases before it was turned into a completely comfortable and cozy nook.

Luis ran a new electric cable through the space so he can install some lightings. He also placed some insulation so Nickel can stay warm during the winter.
Next, Luis started to work on the floor. He installed a drywall and floor base so Nickel won’t have to lie down on a hard and cold concrete.

For the love of his dog, Luis put in extra effort to round out the edges inside the little room. He said he “did what [he] could to [make] the angle less steep.” Nickel can now juggle and play inside his home without hurting himself when he runs into corners.

Luis then finished the walls with plaster. And to complete the interior, he raised the floor of the room one step from the hallway level so Nickel can stay even warmer inside.

This dog lover then placed cherrywood floor boards to accent the light brown walls. With the smooth floor inside his home, Nickel is sure to feel comfortable as he sprawls across it.

Luis chose to paint the doghouse with “nice muted browns.” Not only does the room feel natural in brown, but it also made the space feel larger.

Motorcycle-themed decors were also fixed on the walls inside the house to stir liveliness. This also makes Nickel like some cool but bad-ass pup.

The unique dog house was also created with a façade for its entrance. With lots of wood and planning, Luis definitely achieved his goal to provide Nickel with a grand entrance to his home. He even placed a faux window on the roof.

A camera was also installed at a corner of the doghouse. Luis can now monitor his pet without having to run from his room down to Nickel’s house. Plus, he can now spy on how Nickel makes use of his own space.

Finally, Luis installed a little door. The fence-type door comes with its own latch.

As for the roof, Luis used shims he assembled on the facade. This also made the space look like a typical dog house installed inside a human house.

Indeed a lovely home for Nickel! With the lights on, you can clearly see how the unused space turned into a mini-mansion. Luis didn’t end there though. His hands were too itchy that he still lined the inner ceiling with wooden panels to add more dimension in the room.

The result of the project is indeed jaw-dropping. So for other dog owners out there who are up to the challenge of building a dog house on their own, Luis’ creative idea can be your inspiration.
