"My mom sometimes sees a photo of Emma Watson and thinks it's me."
Kari Lewis, a cosplayer from Indianapolis, Indiana, often attracts attention because of her resemblance to actress Emma Watson.
According to the 31-year-old woman, it all began back in 2001 when the first Harry Potter movie hit the theaters. She was 12 at the time and people would just come up to tell her she looks like the Hermione Granger star.
“It all started when the first film was released; I went out to the Post Office to post a letter for my mum and a couple of girls called me Hermione. I had never heard of the name so I went home and researched it and realized that I did look like her.”
She eventually received invitations from events, requesting her to cosplay as the character.
“I started getting really into the films and books and became a big fan of Harry Potter.
“A lot of convention organizers have found my pictures and hired me to play Hermione as a cosplayer; seeing people’s reactions at this event are amazing because they are always so shocked.”
In fact, even her own mother has a hard time telling them apart.
“My mom says she can really see the resemblance; she sometimes sees a photo of Emma Watson and thinks it’s me,” Lewis shared.
Lewis has also cosplayed as Belle from the 2017 Disney live action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast.
