Isle Of Skye: Visit Scotland’s Gorgeous Island Before ‘Game Of Thrones’ Prequel Begins

These gorgeous locations could all end up in the HBO series this October.

2019 is the year that Game of Thrones will finally end. Although the HBO show’s conclusion will prove to be a devastating one for fans, there is still good news in the future. The network has already confirmed that a prequel series will begin production in October. Not surprisingly, HBO is already looking for a new locale to film and it looks like they have chosen Scotland’s Isle of Skye.

The Scottish island is certainly an ideal choice to represent Westeros during the golden Age of Heroes. There is little doubt that fans will be flocking the local scene this fall. With that in mind, here are the amazing places to see in Isle of Skye that you might want to visit before the Game of Thrones prequel begins filming.

Old Man of Storr

The craggy hill is known for the huge pointed rocks on its peak. According to legend, the hill was given the name because the rocks resemble an old man. The word Storr actually comes from Nordic culture and means “Great Man.” There is a possibility that Old Man of Storr will be featured prominently in the Game of Thrones prequel series.

The beach certainly resembles the shore of Dragonstone, the Targaryen stronghold that was once Stannis Baratheon’s home. It wouldn’t be a surprise to find An Corran Beach in the prequel since you can actually find dinosaur footprints along the stretch of black sand.

Neist Point

The cliff is another gorgeous location in Isle of Skye and there is a huge possibility that Game of Thrones producers will fall in love with the view. Visitors can watch dolphins and whales from the cliff.

Fairy Glen

Fans could already imagine the Children of the Forest having their secret meetings on the glen. Fairy Glen comes alive during the summer but is still an ideal place to visit all year.

Portree

The largest town in Isle of Skye could be the best place to stay while watching out for celebrities this October. There are plenty of restaurants and hotels in the area so there is little doubt that more visitors will turn up soon.

Mealt Falls and Kilt Rock

These two sights are right beside each other so you can easily see both on one trip. People usually report about music coming from the rocks on a windy day. Could this be an ideal place for the Game of Thrones prequel?

The Quiraing

Some visitors have described The Quiraing as an ideal landscape for Lord of The Rings. The cliffs could be featured in the Game of Thrones prequel since George R.R. Martin had used J.R.R. Tolkien’s universe for his own.

Sligachan and the Cuillin Mountains

A gorgeous location deserves an equally compelling legend. According to lore, the waters below the Sligachan Old Bridge is enchanted. The great warrior Scáthach reportedly won a battle after her daughter was told by fairies to wash her face in the water. Additionally, legend dictates that anyone who washes their face in the waters will be granted eternal beauty.

The Game of Thrones prequel will start production in October. The final season of the current series is expected to premiere on HBO in 2019.
