Sure we have heard of tons of bacteria and germs residing on the least expected parts of our body but with the birth of a new body that could possibly trespass your face, anybody will definitely be grabbing a mirror now.

Spotted initially on earwax in 1842, discoveries revealed that face mites can now possibly reside, mate at night and multiply tremendously in your face. Yes, the most precious and well-cleaned part of majority especially the vain ones; can now be alienated with even the world’s disgusting microscopic organisms.

Originating from the family of spiders, scientists believed that everyone is prone to host hundreds or even thousands of these eight-legged mites sensing a probability of estimated two per every eyelash. “There are two species of mite which choose to live on your face: Demodex folliculorum and D. brevis. They both have short legs and are worm-like in shape – but their closes relatives are spiders. D. folliculorum are found in hair follicles and pores, while D. brevis resides deeper down in our skin’s sebaceous glands”, said Megan Thoemmes of North Carolina State University in Raleigh.

Scientists believed that anyone could host hundreds or even thousands of these face mites, with an estimated two per every eyelash.

Although no specific findings can confirm how or what they eat for survival, experts say that they are seriously inviting to their own kinds. Thoemmes added: “Some people think they eat the bacteria that are associated with the skin. Some think they eat the dead skin cells. Some think they’re eating the oil from the sebaceous gland.”

What made them even more interestingly disturbing is the absence of an anus for their individual discharge of stomach wastes. Having this said, they are believed to contain them within themselves and would not release until they explode. Although assumed to be of no harm, being infected with Rosacea or having visible spots or red appearances may trigger ten times possibility of inhibitions of face mites.

So what to do to get rid of it? The answer is nothing.

Experts say that their complete extinction will only last for six weeks until they return infiltrating the fences of your pores once again. As Thoemmes said: “They most certainly have an effect on us, as we do on them. We could be having immune responses to them, which could have been having an effect on our health and immune systems.”

It’s not yet clear what they eat. But they’ve been notorious to eat each other.
