Barber Tells ‘Shy’ Salesman To Grow A Beard, And His Transformation Is Just Jaw-dropping

What an unbelievable transformation.

We all love to see transformation photos of ugly ducklings. And we know how growing a beard can totally change a man’s look. Just like then 21-year-old Gwilym Pugh, who decided to grow some facial hair. He not only became a total hottie but also landed a job as a model.

What’s incredible is if you’ll see before photos of Pugh, who looked nothing like his now 33-year-old self. Pugh received an advice from a barber that he should grow a beard. Fortunately for the insurance salesman, he took the advice and has since landed a modeling stint that allowed him to work alongside the likes of David Beckham.

But this was him before becoming a headturner.

Clearly, he was out of shape then.

But that doesn’t matter now, does it?

Pugh was 21 when he started an insurance company in a spare bedroom in his home. But due to a sedentary lifestyle and some injuries, he gained weight — 280 pounds to be precise. But after a barber told him to grow some beard, the ginger’s life completely changed.

Several years ago, Pugh and his mates started a folk band.

He was also advised to grow a beard so he can look the part.

But since he got his new look, he felt he needed to change his unhealthy lifestyle.

He told Daily Mail:

“At that time I was pretty overweight, working 12 hours a day, plagued with injuries which meant I couldn’t train at all. The business was doing okay, but I decided I needed to get my life in order and wanted to get healthy again.”

He started with clean eating habits.

But the biggest change was when he stopped working his desk job.

Pugh said quitting his desk job was the best decision he made for his health.

He went easy on himself quitting the job that requires him to work nine to 10 hours per day.

It paid off, obviously.

Kudos for the dramatic transformation!

Pugh lost 90 pounds in more than five years.

While he was transforming himself, he also made an IG account.

Welsh fashion designer Nathan Palmer saw his photos and the rest is history. Pugh now works at the AMCK Models, a top model agency in London. He had appeared in a coffee table book and got booked for the Red Hot Photography project. These two gigs gave a boost to his modeling career.

He has worked on Vans, Diesel and Bud Light campaigns.

He’s also made ambassador for David Beckham’s brand, House 99.

Despite his success in the modeling world, the hunk managed to keep his feet on the ground and remain humble. For him, it was an opportunity to travel the world, meet people and be creative.

“I think I’m lucky I got into this profession at the age that I did. I try not to get caught up in it all and my girlfriend helps a great deal wit that.”

Are you inspired by Pugh’s story that he makes you want to grow a beard?
