Fox Discovered to Have Stolen More Than 100 Pairs of Shoes in a Berlin Suburb

• A local resident was able to catch the fox-thief red-handed and took a photo of it carrying a pair of blue flip-flops.
• The shoes amassed by the fox totalled to more than 100, most of them Crocs flip-flops.
• Some made fun of the fox’s apparent bad taste in footwear because of its preference for Crocs.

Animals stealing stuff is nothing new. There are news of cats and dogs prowling neighborhoods and taking home objects with them, even underwear! But this fox has gotten special attention because of its particular fondness for shoes, most especially Crocs!

In Zehlendorf, a suburb in Berlin, Germany, residents have been complaining about their footwear going missing from their yards.

They soon discovered that the thief is a small fox.

Christian Meyer, a local resident, was able to catch the fox-thief red-handed and took a photo of the shoe collector carrying a pair on its mouth.

He must have followed the fox because he discovered a full stash of shoes that have been missing within the neighborhood.

According to the report from Tagesspiegel, Meyer caught the fox  “in flagrante, carrying two blue flip flops in its mouth.”

The shoes amassed by the fox totalled to more than 100, most of them Crocs flip-flops. This seem to be the favorite shoe of the fox to “collect.”

There was also a number of sneakers and other types of sandals in the loot. Unfortunately, Meyer was not able to his own missing shoe among the stash.

Residents were amused by this unusual shoe thief. Some of them posted flyers asking neighbors if they have seen their missing shoes.

Meyer did suspect that it might be a fox who was stealing the shoes and raised the concern on a neighborhood watch website, as locals were complaining about missing one piece or a pair of shoes.
