This 83-Year-Old Man Walked Miles to Mow Customers’ Lawns, Until A Couple Did This!

It's always nice to help kind, hard working people.

Most of us get a sense of fulfilment whenever we help other people. It always feels good to open our hearts and extend our hands to those in need, especially when we know that the person we’re helping deserves that help.

John Joyce is an 83-year-old man who makes a living mowing other people’s lawns.

For the past few months, he had to walk several miles every day because the transmission of his 1994 truck died. At his age, this may not have been easy, but he had to do it.

Robert Norton, a regular client, was having difficulties for the last few weeks too. His mom died days prior to his wedding. However, this did not hinder him and his wife Nikki from doing a kind gesture for Joyce.

“People’s needs don’t arise when it’s convenient for you, they arise when they have needs. John’s needs didn’t come at a convenient time, but we needed to help him. I didn’t want him to have to wait,” Robert Norton told People.

The couple made arrangements for Joyce’s new truck the day after they got back from their honeymoon on Saturday.

Joyce tried to hold back his tears when the Robert handed him the keys to his new truck at a used car dealership in Pinellas Park, Florida on Monday afternoon.

The newlyweds from St. Petersburg created a GoFundMe page hoping to help get Joyce a new car. Amazingly, in a short span of time, people donated more than $13,000.

“He was amazed too, he couldn’t believe it. He looked like he was ready to start crying, and then I started crying,” Robert said.

The car dealer sold them the truck at a reasonable price, and thus enabled them to have spare money for the car’s insurance, plates, and a Home Depot gift certificate for a new lawnmower.

Robert said, “It was super exhilarating to do a thing for such a good man. I’m at a loss of words. I’ve been through a whirlwind of ups and downs the last few weeks and it’s nice to culminate on a feel good moment.”

Sometimes, even if we are facing many trials ourselves, the burden and the pain seem to lessen when we do good deeds for others. And sometimes, it even brings us genuine happiness.
