Facebook Privacy Hoax Claims All Photos And Posts Will Be Public if You Don’t Repost

Many Facebook users still fall for the Facebook hoax that claims all their information will be made public unless they post a specific status message.

As more and more hoaxes are hatched on the Internet, people have repeatedly been warned, “Think before you click” or “Think before you share.” However, many Facebook users still seem to be susceptible to any Facebook hoax. False news and alarmist announcements spread like wildfire on social media.

If you’re an avid Facebook user, you may have noticed that, once again, there are several people who have been posting status messages that reads: “Facebook is now a public entity. All members must post a note like this. If you do not publish a statement at least once, it will be tacitly understood that you are allowing the use of your photos, as well as the information contained in your profile status updates. I hereby state that I do not give my permission. If you prefer, you can copy and paste.”

Why do people believe this right away?

Here is the full message:

Everything you’ve ever posted becomes public from tomorrow. Even messages that have been deleted or the photos not allowed. It costs nothing for a simple copy and paste, better safe than sorry. Channel 13 News talked about the change in Facebook’s privacy policy. I do not give Facebook or any entities associated with Facebook permission to use my pictures, information, messages or posts, both past and future.

With this statement, I give notice to Facebook it is strictly forbidden to disclose, copy, distribute, or take any other action against me based on this profile and/or its contents. The content of this profile is private and confidential information. The violation of privacy can be punished by law (UCC 1-308- 1 1 308-103 and the Rome Statute).

NOTE: Facebook is now a public entity. All members must post a note like this. If you prefer, you can copy and paste this version. If you do not publish a statement at least once it will be tactically allowing the use of your photos, as well as the information contained in the profile status updates. DO NOT SHARE. Copy and paste to be on the safe side.

This Facebook hoax has lasted for years!

Apparently, this hoax has been going around since 2012. But, obviously, people have not learned their lesson.

In fact, in June this year, Facebook had to issue a statement in a bid to stop people from spreading the hoax.

Facebook has issued the same type of statement several times.

The Facebook statement pointed out: “You may have seen a post telling you to copy and paste a notice to retain control over things you share on Facebook. Don’t believe it. You own your content and can control how it is shared through your privacy settings.”

While we can all hope that people will eventually wise up and be more discerning of the things they post, we all know that this hoax will come back to haunt us for years to come.
