There are vacation hotspots, and then there are vacation destinations that only probably 1% of the world population can afford to go to. The royalty and cream of the crop of course take breaks from their busy schedules, too.

But where exactly do they go to when they want a little bit of R&R? We give you 9 of their preferred vacay spots that are ultra-exclusive and pricey to say the least:

1. Mustique located in St. Vincent and the Grenadines

This private island in the Caribbean has been considered the second home of the British Royal family for years. Princess Margaret had a villa built here and Prince William and wife Kate often rent one of the 100 vacation homes. You are expected to shell out at least $20,000 a week vacationing at the island.

2. Lake Como located in Italy

A quick break at Lake Como means breathtaking views of the mountainscapes along with stunning waterfront villas should you want to relax and drink wine, of course. The chance to rub elbows with George Clooney is possible should you book here.

3. Maldives

The ultra-rich relax in this pretty island south of India and enjoy the over the water spa services. They also take time to go snorkeling or diving with the sea creatures before enjoying the food at some of the best underwater restaurants offered by several of the five-star resort hotels in this amazing island.

4. St. Barts located in the French West Indies

Even the yacht moorings are booked in advance so trying to get one right away would prove to be difficult. In case you do get a reservation, you might chance upon high-profile celebs such as Beyonce, Jay Z, and Gwen Stefani.

5. St. Tropez located in the French Riviera

In the sunny parts of the South of France, is St. Tropez where you’ll most likely find Catherine Zeta-Jones, Tom Cruise and Victoria Beckham lounging the day away in their classy yachts. Oh, and did we mention you can also go glacier skiing here in August?

6. Necker Island located in the British Virginia Islands

8. Kenya located in Africa

There are wealthy folk who are more particular to enjoying the safari, glamping and basically just having fun in the wildlife. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are two of these high profile celebs who stayed at a $4,000 a night Alfajiri Villa.

9. Seychelles located in the Nothern Islands

Just like Maldives, Seychelles is ultimate paradise. If you’re very particular about total privacy, fabulous scenery and high-end amenities, then Seychelles is for best bet. Royalty shell out at least $10,000 a night for a private villa that includes a personal chef, beach buggy service and a butler. Oh, and the island is only accessible via private helicopter by the way.
