Company Gets Bashed For Shaming A Job Applicant On Social Media

The company posted her photo and wrote "I am looking for a professional marketer – not a bikini model."

A marketing company has sparked outrage online after shaming one of their job applicants on social media. Kickass Masterminds, a Texas-based firm, shared the bikini photo of Emily Clow on their Instagram story and implied she didn’t get the internship position because of the said image.

Naturally, Emily was upset about the whole thing. According to her, the company used her photo without asking for her permission – which is, of course, already a big no-no because it’s a violation of one’s privacy.

Adding insult to the injury, the company also captioned Emily’s picture this way:

“I am looking for a professional marketer – not a bikini model… This is not doing you any favors in finding a professional job.”

Emily expressed her displeasure by contacting the company via email and direct messages, asking them to delete her photo. Much to her dismay, they only replied “Best of luck.”

Eventually, Emily decided to share about the issue by tweeting a screenshot of the said post.

Although she did not specifically mention the company’s name, many Twitter users immediately made the connection as the tweet went viral. Netizens have since condemned Kickass Masterminds for the inappropriate use of their applicant’s photo.

Numerous women also bashed the company for shaming the woman, saying wearing a swimsuit does not mean a lack of professionalism. Besides, the photo was used for her personal profile – not for her job application.

Someone even took it upon herself to file a complaint against the firm with the Better Business Bureau of Texas.

People also found out that Kickass Masterminds are actually composed of women and so it’s ironic why Emily was objectified by them.

The company was later forced to set their social media accounts on private soon after all the negative feedback.

CEO Sara Christensen posted an apology to Emily and others, including their clients, who have been affected by her actions.

Meanwhile, Emily has since been receiving a lot of offers from marketing professionals who have said they’d be glad to take her for an internship.

We’re glad Emily got the last laugh!
