Elon Musk Is ‘Confident’ People Could ‘Sell Their Home on Earth’ And Move to Mars Soon

He says moving to Mars will cost "low enough" that many will be able to afford it.

Think living in another planet is nothing more than a sci-fi dream? Well one man is working really hard to make that possible in the near future and the best part is: it’s going to be affordable for most people.

SpaceX founder Elon Musk recently posted on Twitter saying that people could soon move to Mars if they like – for a price they can afford.

Musk wrote on the said social media site:

“I’m confident moving to Mars … will one day cost less than $500k & maybe even below $100k. Low enough that most people in advanced economies could sell their home on Earth & move to Mars if they want.”

Furthermore, he likewise pointed out that those who eventually decide Mars really isn’t for them do not have to worry because a “return ticket is free.”

Meanwhile, a Business Insider report tells us that Musk revealed new information about the Raptor, a massive rocket engine that will be used to propel the Starship launch system to the moon and the red planet.

The article also mentioned that the Raptor engine “has been fired more than a half dozen times at a SpaceX facility in McGregor, Texas.” The Raptor is reportedly crucial to Musk’ bold vision since up to six of these engines are needed to power the Starship.

Furthermore, we learn that the space company’s “aspirational” goal is to launch their first cargo mission to Mars as early as 2022. Come 2023, Musk is aiming to send Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa and his team on a trip to the moon.

If these two missions are successful, the tech genius is looking forward to sending a Starship crew to Mars by 2024.

In the official SpaceX website, we read this quote from Musk:

“You want to wake up in the morning and think the future is going to be great – and that’s what being a spacefaring civilization is all about. It’s about believing in the future and thinking that the future will be better than the past. And I can’t think of anything more exciting than going out there and being among the stars.”
