Zoë Roth broke the internet when her childhood photo went viral online and became popular as “Disaster Girl.”
Now she has made $473,000 after selling the original photo as a non-fungible token to Dubai studio 3F Music.
Roth is hoping to use the money to pay her student loans and as charity donations.

We’ve seen her face so many times on the internet. In fact, ‘disaster girl’ is one of those memes that just won’t go away. Apparently, the woman in that photo – who is now a 21-year-old university student – is back in the spotlight after making a huge amount of money from the iconic meme.

According to recent reports, Zoë Roth has managed to sell the original photograph of her meme for $473,000.

The smirk that made almost half a million dollars!

Roth was merely 5 when her photo was taken. It shows her standing and smiling in front of a burning house. The original picture was taken by her father and it has been sold at an auction last Thursday as an NFT (non-fungible token), a digital ownership certificate, for 180 Ethereum, a form of cryptocurrency.

Zoë Roth’s childhood picture started to go viral online after it got published in a magazine.

The purchase was made by 3F Music and according to the Dubai-based studio:

”Our management team is always in cooperation with some highly knowledgeable and experienced art advisers who believe that we must grow with technological movements that help us to not only promote our business but also to support artists and the art market.”

In a media interview, Roth said she plans to use the earnings as student loan payment and as charity donation. It has also been confirmed that she retains the copyright to the image and will continue to earn 10% of future NFT sales.
