Daughter Reunites With Biological Mom Through Online DNA Testing Site

Surely, Mother's Day will be more meaningful for both of them this year!

A mother and the daughter she gave up for adoption more than 30 years ago have finally reunited, thanks to an online DNA testing site. Without question, this year’s Mother’s Day celebration will be twice as meaningful for these two reunited souls.

Rita Conard felt that she was too young to be a mother when she gave birth to her daughter in 1984 and believed that she could not give her a good life, hence, she gave her up for adoption. Since then, she had been clueless about the whereabouts of the child she gave up, only wondering where she could be and how life could be treating her. After all, she never searched for the very child she carried in her womb for 9 months as she did not want to impose her life on her.

Without Rita Conard’s knowledge, the child she gave up, the now 33-year old Megan Meier, also wanted to find her.

In fact, Megan resorted to the online DNA testing site, 23AndMe, without knowing that the answers to her questions would be given to her really fast.

Not realizing that the site has a relative section, she was surprised that there was a list of relatives that she could connect with after she got the results of her DNA test. After communicating with three people who replied and said they believed they could be related, one of them and told Megan she is certain who Meier’s biological mother is.

More than three decades later, she finally reconnected with her biological mom – thanks to an online DNA testing site!

Meier said:

“It blew my mind because I anticipated having years of dead ends, and private investigators, and a lot of money to figure out who my birth mom is and it didn’t happen that way.”

Thanks to the introduction made by Meier’s biological cousin, Meier and Conard were already starting to communicate with each other through email the following day. With Conard sending Meier baby pictures she’d received from the adoption agency and a letter from her adoptive mom, there was no denying that Meier has finally found what she had been looking for all these years.

Finally, the mother and daughter came face to face over brunch in a New York hotel just recently. With the meeting confirming that her daughter is living a good life, Conard, who is also a mother to two men ages 24 and 29, must have told herself that she made the right decision to give her up for adoption.

With their reunion, Megan will now have two mothers to honor this coming Mother’s Day.

Conard said:

“She’s with a wonderful family. I mean, she had a wonderful life. She’s beautiful. She’s talented. She’s happy.”

For her part, Meier considers the reunion a big blessing from above. After all, she never expected that meeting her biological mom would happen at all.

“It’s a huge gift for me. I just never thought it was possible,” remarked Meier.
