"Parents need to hold their kids accountable."
We all heard about school bullies, and we always wondered if they were being punished for their bad behavior or they just get away with it because they’re kids? Hurting someone intentionally is never okay, and one dad made sure that his 10-year-old daughter would never ever do it again.
Matt Cox, from Ohio, showed no mercy to his daughter Kristen after learning that she bullied another child. While most parents would just apologize to the young student, their parents, and school officials, promising that it would never happen again, the dad took things to a whole new level.
Instead of just grounding Kristen or taking her gadgets, Matt made her walk five miles to school as a punishment. He then took a video of the young girl as he drove slowly alongside her.
He said:
“This lovely lady is my 10-year-old daughter who has, for the second time this year, been kicked off the school bus due to bullying another student. Let me make this extremely clear, bullying is unacceptable, especially in my house.
A lot of children today feel that the things their parents do for them is a right and not a privilege, such as parents taking their children to school in the morning or even bus rides to school in the morning.”
Matt believes that parents should hold their kids accountable for their actions. He stated that most parents are not taking the issue of bullying as seriously as they should. Matt said he didn’t want to be like that.
He continued:
“All of that is a privilege and should be treated as such, so today my beautiful daughter is going to walk five miles to school in 36 (Fahrenheit) degree weather. I know a lot of you parents are not going to agree with this and that’s alright.
I am doing what I think is right to teach my daughter a lesson to stop her from bullying.”
The firm dad explained that Kristen didn’t walk five miles in one day. She finished it for three days.
As it turns out, Kristen also experienced being bullied by bigger kids. She shared that her dad’s punishment makes her learn her lesson.
