Clever Crows Troll Other Animals by Pulling Their Tails

They’re the ultimate trolls in the animal kingdom!

Crows can be the ultimate trolls in the animal kingdom.

Belonging to the corvid family of birds which also includes ravens, magpies, and rooks, crows are considered one of the most intelligent animals on earth. With an encephalisation quotient close to some apes, it is not surprising to know that crows are capable of using and constructing tools.

One of the nastiest habits of these extremely intelligent creatures is tail-pulling of larger animals and backing off when they try to retaliate. This annoying and clever behaviour has been observed among corvids raised by humans.

It is believed that the creatures do this in order to trick and steal the food of larger predators. By distracting and testing the aggression of these animals, crows get the opportunity to loot their delicious meals. Their targets include dogs, cats, foxes, and larger birds.

Although this behaviour seems to be innate, we can’t ignore the possibility that they just do it for fun, right?
