Christian Private School Expels Two Students Because Their Mom “Committed Adultery”

Is it right to ban kids from a school because their mother is "living in sin"?

One mother from Ohio has openly expressed her disappointment about how a private Christian school treated her two daughters. According to 30-year-old Summer Grant, her daughters Summaia and Summara, who are studying as second and fourth grade students, have been expelled at the Chapel Hill Christian School because she “committed adultery.”

To make matters worse, Grant’s daughters, ages 7 and 10, were dismissed from the educational institution with only “30 days left in the school year,” reported the DailyMail. So she later took the matter to John Wilson, administrative pastor of the school, and she was told it was because she was “living in sin” since she isn’t married and her children had “different fathers,” shared Grant.

In a recorded conversation, Wilson told Grant that she was violating the school’s covenant because of her situation.

He said:

“There’s 10 commandments and committing adultery is not part of that. It’s not that they should not go to school it’s that they can’t go to the school.”

According to Grant, this wasn’t the first time she clashed with Wilson regarding the topic. Back in July, during a parent conference, she was asked about why her children had different fathers plus she was given “eight recommendations on how to improve her life.”

“As Christian you are not supposed to judge,” commented Grant. “You shouldn’t have affected these kids education over that.”

Now she is extremely worried about her children, especially since the school year is already drawing to a close.

“They don’t have a school. They don’t have anywhere to go to school right now. I don’t know what to do,” she said.

Eventually, Pastor Wilson issued a statement with Jeff Sumner, Board of Education Chairman for the schools, and said that parents signed a “written agreement to conduct themselves in accordance with expressed guidelines of conducts” for the purpose of ensuring the “physical safety of our students.”

The said agreement is “meant to reflect a common commitment to the cause of Christ, foster the ‘Spirit of unity through the bond of peace,’ and continue to extend the redemptive work of Christ in individual lives and the corporate life of God’s School.”

Grant said she never signed any agreement. She also insisted that her children are good students, as proven by the several certificates and achievements they’ve received, and she hopes the school will accept them again.

She later wrote in a Facebook post:

“I understand I’m not married and fornication would be what I committed not adultery! However I’ve been the same unmarried woman with children who have different fathers since the day he first accepted me and my children and the money for them to attend and that’s where he’s wrong at. I’m sorry I didn’t get married in the time frame he thought I should of but I wanted to bad! But that’s just not what was for me at the time.”
