I love, LOVE animals so whenever I see or read stories of animals being abused or abandoned, it really destroys my day. Of course, whenever I read about animals being rescued and given the chance to have forever homes, it really warms my heart. This is one of those stories.

Bret Winingar was riding his motorcycle with his son Zach on a warm, sunny day. As they passed a field, they saw something unusual on the side of the road – an abandoned pet carrier. Father and his son decided to step off their bikes and check it out.

It was a good thing they did so, because what they saw inside filled them with shock and horror.

The animal carrier they spotted looked like it had been there for quite some time.

The hole in the crate means something was desperately trying to chew its way out.

When they unlocked the crate, there was a little dog covered in waste, scared and emaciated. Hunched over from being stuck in a tiny space for a very long time.

Father and son drove off to get some food for the poor dog, which she excitedly woofed down.

They arranged for a truck to take them home, with the dog sitting in the backseat.

During the car ride, the dog quickly showed her gratitude.

As soon as they reached home, the Winingars gave her full love.

They named her Charlie Bravo or CB for short.

As vets dressed the sores that developed from being confined for so long.

They couldn’t imagine how long she’s been stuck on that tiny crate..

It was hard to tell how long Charlie Bravo was stuck inside the carrier but the vet estimated her age to be around eight months old. Looking at the stains and sores on the dog’s body, the vet guessed that she must have been trapped inside for more than a month.

Bret was not really planning to keep CB.

But after nursing her back to health, he couldn’t part with her anymore.

Bret became hopelessly in love with her and decided she’s a total keeper.

CB is now safe in home full of love.

When CB’s story went viral, animal lovers donated cash to cover her medical care.

The family decided to donate the excess money to a local animal shelter.

Charlie Bravo is not the only animal that Brett Winingar has lovingly rescued

They plan to create a foundation to help rescue animals like Charlie Bravo.

Guess what they want to name the foundation? Charlie’s Angels!

Charlie Bravo is recovering nicely. Her sores are almost gone and she gained weight. Because of the love and care that the family has showered her, Charlie is slowly but surely becoming the happy and confident dog that she deserves to be.
