More Than 1 Million Fans Want Amber Heard Fired From Aquaman 2

More than 1 million people have signed a Change.org petition.

A Change.org petition has managed to gather over 1 million signatures from movie fans who want to see Amber Heard kicked out of her role as Mera in Aquaman 2, which is scheduled for a 2022 release.

The actress has been in a series of controveries since 2016 after filing for a divorce with her then-husband Johnny Depp. At the time, she accussed him of physical and verbal abuse. In 2019, Depp later filed a defamation suit against Heard.

Depp has exposed Heard as the real domestic abuser, saying she punched him in the face twice. His finger also had to be reattached by surgery after she shattered it using a vodka bottle.

Depp likewise sued UK-based publication The Sun after publishing a 2018 article labeling him as a “wife beater.” This eventually led to Depp being asked by Warner Bros to leave his role as the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald in the upcoming Fantastic Beast movie. He, however, lost the case.

The actor wrote on Instagram:

“I have been asked to resign by Warner Bros. from my role as Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts and I have respected and agreed to that request…. The surreal judgement of the court in the U.K. will not change my fight to tell the truth and I confirm that I plan to appeal. My resolve remains strong and I intend to prove that the allegations against me are false. My life and career will not be defined by this moment in time.”

Now fans are rallying behind Depp, openly expressing their desire to see Heard fired from the upcoming DC superhero movie.

Part of the petition reads:

“As Amber Heard is a known and proven domestic abuser, Warner Brothers and DC Entertainment should and must remove Heard from their Aquaman 2 film project. They must not ignore the suffering of Heard’s victims, and must not glamorize a domestic abuser.

“Men are victims of domestic abuse, just like women. This must be recognized, and action must be taken to prevent a known abuser from being celebrated within the entertainment industry.

“Do the right thing. Remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2.”

As some fans wrote, they are willing to boycott Aquaman 2 if the actress remains in her role.
