8 Oddly Adorable Cats from Around the World

While other people would say that all cats look the same, cat fanatics all around the world would totally beg to differ. That’s why we’ve compiled a list of oddly adorable cats that don’t look at all like their other feline brethren.

This list has both wild and domestic cats, so you never know if you’ll suddenly run into any of them in your own backyard!

1. Caracal

Caracals (meaning black-eared in Turkish) have a distinct look thanks to the tuft of fur at the end of their ears and the dramatic markings on their face. More fitting in a fantasy land than in their native home in Africa and the Middle East, these cats are experts at hunting in drier areas of the world.

2. Jaguarundi

Found in Central and South America, the jaguarondi are small, weasel-like cats that have stubby legs and small, flattened heads. They’re one of the most adaptable wild cats as they can live in all sorts of habitats, from dry scrub to swamps to woodlands.

3. Manul

These fluffy, adorable cats have very expressive faces. It’s said that they were left behind by evolution, as they haven’t changed in the past twelve million years! And while they’re about the size of your typical housecat, the manul looks much bigger and fatter thanks to its thick fur!

4. Serval

This feline’s distinct look is thanks mostly to its long, graceful legs, the longest among all cats in relation to its body size. Servals are native to more than 35 African countries, and they reside in parts of the savannas where there are lots of bushes and tall grass.

5. Skogkatt

The Norwegian forest cat is a breed of domestic felines from Northen Europe. These fluffy, adorable cats can also be found in Norse mythology, as they’re beloved by Freya, the Norse goddess of love and beauty. In fact, it is said that her chariot is drawn by skogkatts!

6. Canadian Lynx

If you love kitty paws, you’ll love the giant paws of the Canadian lynx. Their huge, furry paws work like snowshoes that help them walk over thick snow. While they look like bobcats, the Canadian lynx has longer tufts of hair on their ears and their tails are bobbed with a black tip.

7. LaPerm

As their name suggests, the LaPerm looks like it just walked out of a salon with a nice perm. This domestic cat is known to be mischievous yet very affectionate, to the point that they’d welcome your visitors for you!

8. Sand Cat

This breed of cat may be mistaken for kittens, even when they’re fully grown! Sand cats have big fluffy ears, tiny eyes, and tiny, foxlike noses. These solitary, burrow-dwelling cats are the only cats that live primarily in the desert.

The world is indeed filled with unique-looking cats of all shapes and sizes. So the next time someone tells you that most cats look alike, show them this list and watch them be amazed at these felines!
