You've seen their schemes on the news, so stay alert and don't fall victim to their tricks.

We all want to do our best to make sure that our cars are kept safe. Unfortunately, there will always be up to no good people who will do whatever it takes to steal your prized possession.

People are getting better and better at stealing cars. Luckily, you can follow these seven simple hacks that can save your vehicle from theft.

1. Mark the glass.

Windshields, windows, and mirrors can be marked with a VIN number, also known as the identification number of the vehicle. This service may only cost a little, but it will definitely decrease the profit of theft as it will take too much time, money, and effort to replace them.

2. Install a baby monitor in the car.

Car thieves would certainly prefer to go under the radar to pursue their evil plan, so the presence of a visible camera can scare them off immediately.

3. Hide your old phone in the car.

Synchronize your old phone or tablet with your Google account and leave it inside your car. Heaven forbid that your vehicle will be stolen, your old mobile can ping its location, and it will be easier to track.

4. Keep your wheels turned toward the curb when parked.

Security expert Michael Fraser said:

“Turning your wheels in towards the curb or another vehicle makes it harder for a thief to make a getaway as, firstly, the wheels will get stuck in the car wheel well on the side of the road and, secondly, if you do this once you’ve taken your keys out of the ignition it will activate the cars’ automatic wheel lock.”

5. Don’t make things easy for a thief.

“Leaving cars in unsecured areas, such as dark car parks or under trees with no lighting, makes it easier for thieves to steal the vehicle and they know they are less likely to get caught on security camera footage.”

6. Keep your keys in foil to avoid criminals from picking up the signal.
