3 Possible Reasons Why Drogon Didn’t Kill Jon Snow In The ‘Game Of Thrones’ Finale

As with most series finales, there’s a bunch of unanswered questions that remain about “Game of Thrones”. Leaving things open-ended is a technique often employed to garner continued interest, and to let the audience make their own deductions.

During the “Game of Thrones” finale, Jon Snow was forced to kill his love (and aunt), Daenerys Targaryen. Her three dragons have always been loyal to her, so many were confused when Daenerys’ last remaining dragon, Drogon, decided not to kill Jon Snow even though he witnessed the whole betrayal.

Obviously, Drogon doesn’t talk, so it’s not totally clear as to what was going on in his mind when he stumbled upon the pair. However, a few theories are making their rounds on the internet.

Theory #1

One possibility is that Drogon might have left Jon Snow alone because he is Aegon Targaryen, making him able to ride and rule dragons. Therefore the beast might not have been able to burn Jon because of his royal blood.

We’ve seen before that Targaryens — or at least some Targaryens — cannot be burned by fire, as Daenerys herself proved when she walked through a funeral pyre and emerged unscathed and with three hatched dragons.

Theory #2

Another possibility is that Drogon doesn’t want to kill the last dragon rider and the last Targaryen, so he turns his fury instead on the object that represents Dany’s downfall: the Iron Throne itself.

Drogon witnessed the “Mad Queen” side of his mother. She even used him as her main weapon. Even though he loved Dany, he possibly didn’t want her to rule the seven kingdoms after seeing that side of her.

Theory #3

The final possibility is that Drogon didn’t see the point of killing anymore. It could be that he’d just had enough of it once his queen had gone and decided to ride and die with her instead.
