15 Crazy Laws from Around the World You Need to Know Before Your Vacation

It's better to be on the safe side and know the law, especially when you're on vacation in a foreign country!

“Ignorance does not excuse you from the law.” This is true in both your own country and in others. That’s why it’s better off for you to learn laws from all over the world than to get arrested while you’re enjoying your vacation.

So the next time you find yourself in any of these countries, take note of these unusual laws.

1. Public displays of affection can land you in jail in the United Arab Emirates.

2. You can’t chew gum in the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) in Singapore. You will be fined if you get caught.

3. Lighten your pockets by changing your coins into bills in Canada.

Stores can refuse to accept your money if you pay in coins.

4. You can’t feed the pigeons in San Francisco, because these birds can cause unsanitary conditions, and thus feeding them might make them flock around a public space.

5. You can’t walk around outside a beach or pool area in a swimsuit when you’re in Barcelona, Spain as this can get you fined.

6. You need a breathalyzer on you at all times when you’re driving in France.

It’s better to be safe and have one on hand than to get pulled over and be lectured in another language.

7. Germany’s Autobahn is a highway where drivers are known for speeding.

You can’t stop at an Autobahn even if you’re running low on gas!

8. When in Spain, you’re not allowed to drive using flip flops.

9. Just to be on the safe side, never step on a Thai coin in Thailand.

King Bhumibol Adulyadej is considered the father of Thailand, and his face is in Thai coins. Touching his likeness using what they consider to be the dirtiest part of the body (the feet) is forbidden.

10. You can’t get naked in public in Fiji. Luckily, they have some private resorts where you can sunbathe naked.
