Some of us associate beauty with how one looks good with make up on, eyebrows on ‘fleek’ or how your chic outfit complements your favorite Mac lipstick. But beauty isn’t only about a person’s physical attributes. Rather, it is how you see or carry yourself–about feeling beautiful regardless of what other people think or say.

Despite being born with a facial tumor called cystic hygroma which left her unable to speak, YouTuber and beauty blogger Marimar Quiroa is redefining beauty and inspiring us to love and accept ourselves despite our imperfections.

The Latina make up enthusiast shares that she ‘once hid from strangers and even undergone multiple surgeries to shrink her face and mouth.’

In a recent video uploaded by Barcroft TV, Marimar shares that she has encountered negative people both on YouTube and in her daily life. Harsh comments telling her that ‘she looks like a monkey or that her mouth is wrong.’ But she didn’t allow her fears, insecurities, and all that negativity get the best of her.

Now, the 21-year-old blogger finds strength in her love for make up and dreams of becoming a teacher for deaf children.

She has also learned the art of ignoring haters in the process and simply shrugging off negative comments.

“When I was young I’d talk to myself in the mirror,” Marimar said. “I’d tell myself I was beautiful. I’d encourage myself and list things that were good about me. That’s how I learned to accept myself for who I am.”

“It doesn’t matter if you have a different-looking face. Accept yourself for who you are.”

“Beauty, indeed, is only skin deep” and being born different doesn’t mean you can’t be the best of what you want to become.

So you go girl!
